Hello:
It sounds like your product has probably experienced a hardware failure. However there are some things you can do to find a a bit more about it. The exclamation point usually means that something has occurred than requires your intervention. However, without the error message you don't know what that it is.
If you printer is connected via the network you can access the Embedded Web Server to get more information on the product's status. to access the web server you need to type your printer IP address into your web browser (ex: http://255.255.255.255). If your product's formatter is still functioning you can see information about the product from there. This would tell you more about the nature of the failure.
Another thing to consider in evaluating the failure is when your printer starts does it go through the full mechanical start process? You can listen to the noises and hear if the print engine starts and also if the scanner and ADF start. That would also tell you more.
Ultimately, you will need to decide if you want to have the product repaired or try to repair it yourself.
If you have questions I will try to check back on you a little later.
Best Wishes,
