Also I was attempting to install a printer (M451) and found the "Device Toolbox".

To people who are insiders in this matter ((wireless) networks and printers) the toolbox might be a very usefull tool but for someone like me, an interested but rather old man it contains a lot of acadabra. I agree fully with the remarks from Seek_better dated 08-27-201403:35 PM as a good manual will help the users to better understand what they are doing.

I found in the Toolbox a chapter called Verification with an open box at Password. What is the purpose of verification in the Toolbox or in the combination of Printer and Router if there is no Password.

For Seek_better (and myself) I hope that HP will improve on this matter because the quality here is below HP standards.
