Ink System Failure on new installation

Installing new Officejet 6700 Premium.  Followed instructions through installing the four ink cartridges.  Immediately got error message "printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed."  'Show me" button does nothing.  Went to www.hp.com/support and tried twice unplugging product and wall plug per instructions (once with power on, once with power off per instructions) to no avail.  Now saying "Ink system failure."  Unable to locate error code requested; supposed to be on product display, but we see nothing.  Have checked to assure all plastic coverings removed from cartriges; ink appears in holes in cartridge back.

Advice???
