In Windows 8.1, under Device Settings, I have changed "Installable Options - Duplex Unit (for 2-Sided Printing):" to "Installed". I am able to successfully print 2-sided for a couple/few weeks. Then it stops working and I see that the option has changed back to "Not Installed".
While it is not the end of the world, it is very annoying. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

i did not find any hints, what this error is about. i only can see it in the printer event log.
can someone enlighten me about this event? because the printer is "eating" sap printouts --> i see in the spooler let's say 50 spools, but the printer only prints 20. and then i can see this error in the log.

Hello, the error you are seeing on the machine is common for these pro x models, it is a manufactures defect. You will have to call HP support and have them replace the machine, odds are they will give you a refurb machine, as I have had this issue several times. It is an issue with the printbar, and the only other option is to order the printbar and install it. But I have also done that and it is alot easier to have HP replace it.

Hello to add to John's post, there are a lot of weird issues with the Pro X, first gen versions, that I have noticed. Example, 79 error code, will cause the machine to powercycle over and over. Solution, treat it like a 49 error code, clear the que and powercycle off the network and it should be resolved.

please help me as i find it hard to find which printer has the capabilities i need for our company.
We are looking for a small sized printer MFP (eithet 8620 deskjet or MFP M476dw or similar price range), i would prefer that it is a laser printer.
Now what the printer must have:
- scan to cloud
- scan to email - without the use of computer (direct email sending from the printer interface)
- fax to email - without the use of computer (direct email sending from the printer interface)
- auto double sided adf scanning
- auto double sided printing
Please suggest if this can be accomplished with any of the printers in your range?

Have the MFP receive the fax and then forward it to email?
I have a CM4540 with a CC424A mailbox. The printer is in this situation for several years in use. For 2 days we are facing problems with the mailboxes control. The top two output trays of CC424A cannot longer be accessed by the printers driver. Using the administration menu on the printer to test the output trays the CC424A works perfectly.
We have Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 in use.
On the printer I have installed the latest firmware and on the workstations we use the current UPD PCL5 and PCL6 driver.
So, can anyone from HP tell us if this will be a constant issue? I just bought this printer and do not want to keep it at this point after having this issue after a couple weeks. I use it as a copier/fax that isn't hooked to a computer... something like that should just work out of the box. I have no desire to have to do a factory reset on it every few weeks then have to set it up again. I used to only buy HP printers because they always just work, now I'm starting to second guess that.
Paper is always jammed in front of the reversing separation-guide's wheels. All wheels looks fine to me. I am wondering if the motor is not working at reversing cycle. Any suggestion?

No.1 My 8600 all in one will not scan to my computer. I can scan to the USB but not to any other device. Also in my manual it does not address the scan option, just the FAX. ( I don't use FAX.
No. 2 the printer has developed a vetical line on copies from the self feed mode only. The line does not appear on copies made from the glass.
This was the reason we bought a new All in One in place of our HP4500.

did you havce to change any settings to get your 500 tray to work? mine recognises on the machine for copying etc and that its there but wont actualy see it there on the machine?

the printer shows it there as an option to sdet as defaiult tray (rather than tray 2) but even if i do that and remove all tray 2 paper (so only tray with paper in is tray 3) it wont do anything

Tried the semi full reset. Machine reset, then again flashed the same error message.
