I called HP about this Service Advisory to get a new card. No good, they said. I missed the deadline. So, I got a rebuild Formatter card for $100. I popped the formater card in and now it prints fine, but I get this Scanner Error 5 code. When I turn it on and see the Scanner error 5, I hit the "Wrench or Tool Icon", then OK, and then I print. I have not tried to scan, but assume it won't work. I will now have to get a new Scanner card, I guess.
I might be thinking twice before buying another HP printer. I contacted them about their Formatter board that went bad because they used the wrong kind of solder. What difference should it make if I jumped the hoop before or after their arbitrary date.
Some time back, I got similar treatment from Samsung for a bad TV. I used to buy all Samsung TV's, CD's, etc. I have bought three TV since that time but not a single Samsung. These big companies can really annoy me.
Enjoy,
