"But I need to use 476dw as a fax machine"
Do you? Im being serious. Most people think they need to use a physical fax machine when they really do not. Physical faxing is a preferance, not a requirement in any case I have seen. Online fax vendors can do everything a physical machine can do and better because they can actually support the fax service. Not only that but you get access to your fax messages everywhere you go through your email.
"As I have no a line phone"
You dont even have a physical phone line... How are you planning to use your mobile number as a fax number if it is tied to your mobile device? Thats not how it works.
"I need to connect the 476dw via a mobile phone"
What good will this do? You still do not have access to a fax telephone number as you are not a fax service customer through your moble phone.
"emulate the line phone for the 476dw, so the 476 would think it is connected to the standard telephone line"
But your printer wouldnt be connected to a fax line even if it was connected to your phone. You still would need to utilize an online faxing service for your printer to access the internet to both send or recieve messages.
The only way that I can forsee something like this working for you is if you rearrange your expectations for using this printer as a fax machine. Here is what you would have to do.
1. Connect the printer to your router (preferably over an Ethernet cable)
2. Connect your phone to router
3. Configure your router to connect to your phone as the modem by switching the router to wireless bridge mode
4. Send fax messages over the internet to thier destination by using the Scan to Email feature and an Online fax vendor
5. Recieve fax messages over the internet by printing emails from your inbox while connected at home
Here would be a diagram of this kind of setup:
- ISP ))) Phone ))) Router === Printer
- Where ))) is a wireless connection and === is cabled
Some limitations of this proposal:
1. In order for something like this to work your router would need to have a built in wireless bridging feature that allows it to connect to other wireless connections. Not every home router has the ability to connect to another home router over wireless.
2. Your phone would also need to have a wireless hotspot feature so that it can share its broadband connection with other connected devices.
3. As soon as you walk your phone away from the router your connection to the internet will break.
4. Your fax machine would also not be able to recieve anything because really, its not acting like a fax machine anymore. The printer is now a scan to email device where you go and manually print the fax messages from your inbox
