You do not tell us the model number of the printer, but lately some of the less expensive printers in the hp line do not have a wealth of parts you can replace. Sometimes the customer has to send the printer back to hp to have them send a replacement since some of the parts are not offered or are to difficult to replace. One thing you can try is to contact hp customer care and see if there is an option for your out of warranty to be sent back to hp and refurb printer sent to you for a set fee hp has. It may be cheaper then buying a new printer.
