How lovely that some of you solved this so quickly without specifically saying the location of the Magic Mirror - actually amazing some of you did it not even knowing where it was.
Well, I messed around with this unit for over an hour trying everything above. There was no way I was going to completely disassemble this unit. Finally, when the scanner head was moving back to the right (I was standing facing the control panel), I siezed the belt and delayed the movement of the scanner cartidge somewhat.
When the grinding noise continued longer than the usual 10-15 seconds, I moved the scan cartridge to the left, twice, with the belt, using needlenose pliers, the scanner cartridge finally went back to where it belonged.
I made one copy and it started to grind again (ARGH!!!). Scanner Error, Power off/Power on.
Cleaned the 'mirrors' again. Grinding - just like my teeth. Could someone please tell me where the Magic Mirror that solves this issue is exactly? Attach an image of exactly WHERE the mirror everyone keeps talking about is located.
The saga continues . . .
