The chip is on the cartridge, HP have an advisory active for this printer and are investigating so I would contact them, we are a primary maintainer and I would say the number of incidents we have been involved in is very low, hardly noticeable, obviously some people may have several printers and so seem plagued by the issue.
I would speak to HP support in case they offer a solution, as advised many are due to small pieces of packing left in the printer causing no contact to the drum.
