This is a physical printing defect. It has nothing to do with the software or firmware of the printer.
If you cannot resolve the problem by examining the cartridges and print heads then you should replace your printer. Chances are your 6500 is not going to be worth the repair bill to bring it into a 3rd party repair shop after parts and labor.
