Too bad...
I updated the firmware and nothing changed.
The printer went through the firmware update procedure smoothly, it printed a report at the end of it showing the new fw number but still it has the same issues:
1. the internal web server works randomly, most of the times it shows "internal server error" without any further details. But this doesn't bother me, I want a scanner and a printer, I really don't care about other features.
2. ePrint services just don't work. Whenever you try to connect to them the printer gets stuck and you need to reboot it. Again, I don't really care about this.
3. The most important issue for me: if you turn it off and leave it off for more than 15 minutes you won't be able to turn it on again unless you unplug the power cord and then plug it back in.
Googling around I have read that also other HP users experienced the very same issue on other printers and somebody replied that HP is working to fix this and will release a patch most probably on April.
It's very disappointing to see that HP does not even perform a basic test on their products before putting them on the market. Very very disappointing.
