After using HP Solution Center on Windows 7 to scan images and documents to my computer for years, it suddenly stopped working. I got an error upon starting it that said there was an incomplete install. I tried installing the full printer solution from the HP site, but that and the doctor app told me the drivers and software were already installed. No repair facility. So I uninstalled the whole works from Windows Control Panel - Programs and Features.
Then I ran the doctor, downloaded the full solution and ran. Result was a Runtime Error for hpzsetup.exe, telling me, "This a"application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team fro more information." So I am. The dialog indicates the error is in the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library.
I was able to install the printer driver (see subject for hardware) using the add printer function in Windows Control Panel.
