It doesnt sound like you have access to the scanner for some reason. Since you currently have printing setup through another PC, similar scanning permissions would need to be set to allow you to scan too.
If you are on the same network as the 1530 then dont bother with an installation through a 2nd PC or print server. Instead install the printer directly on your own computer. That way you can be in control of the security needed to support the various functions of the printer. Go to HPs support website, download the drivers and scan software for your OS and install the printer directly.
However, if your lab happens to be setup in a way to restrict users from installing the printer directly on the computer then you will need to consult with the lab or system admin for advice. They will have to assist you with getting your print/scan enviornment setup and configured to allow the proper sharing. You dont want to risk violating the terms of using the lab and (university?) printing policy for the sake of convenience.
